Hinckley

Hinckley,located in southwest Leicestershire, and governed by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council is the second biggest town in terms of area. It is situated somewhere in the middle of the cities of Leicester and Coventry.

Places of interest

The site of the Battle of Bosworth, is home to an interpretation centre at Ambion Hill, where Richard III set up camp before going for battle. Many of the dead were buried at the place now known as the St James's Church at Dadlington. Also at the same place a shrine came up on behalf of those who lost their life in that battle.

St Mary's Church : The St Mary's Church is a 13th-century located in the centre of Hinckley is a church dedicated to Saint Mary the Virgin. The churchyard has a tombstone marked with the name Richard Smith (a young horse rider who was murdered in 1727) which is said to bleed every 12^th April (his death anniversary).The church opens daily is open daily, from 10.00 to 4.00 pm, and on Sunday during services.
Parks Hollycroft Park: This park was handed over to the Hinckley public in 1934 by the Atkins family. The park is a favorite pass time for those who love to play tennis, and golf. It is home to tennis courts, a bowling green gardens,band stand and a golf course. The park is also used besides playing for the town’s big events. It received the Green Flag Status for the years 2010 to 2012 for achieving high standards.

Some other places of interest to the visitors could be the Brodick Park in the west of Hinckley and the Ashby Canal. The park has been planted with trees to make a nature reserve while the canal is the longest contour canal in England that passes through Hinckley.
