Preston

Preston is a city, which is located in England. In 2002, the district achieved city status. The city built up an area around 313,000. The city has 114,000 population and city of Preston region 132,000 population. In 2011, the city travel to work area had around 420,500 population as compared to 354,000 as per the earlier census.   Preston was established by Angles, and its name is taken from the word "priest's settlement". The city is home to the major campus of the University of Central Lancashire and the Preston North End F.C. In 1966, the St George's Shopping Centre was opened, which is located in Preston England. It has around 106 stores and two floors. Fishergate Shopping Centre was opened in 1986, and it has three floors.

Religion

The city includes Roman Catholic Christian history and custom. The city lies in the Anglican Diocese of Blackburn and Roman Catholic Diocese of Lancaster. In the city, history of Catholic faith and the Christian is long and deep. The city has more than 70 churches, meeting houses and around 12 cemeteries and burial sites. The Catholic Diocese of Lancaster gifted the St Ignatius Church to the Syro-Malabar Catholic community in 2016 was raised to the status by Pope Francis of a Cathedral.

The city has a large number of denominations and has been represented including Countess of Huntingdon's Connexion, Baptist, Christadelphian, Methodist, Society of Friends, Latin Rite Catholics, Wesleyan Methodist, Evangelical, Congregational, Pentecostal, Presbyterian and Swedenborgian.

Museums and Parks

The Harris Museum is an art gallery and public library. In 1893, it was established, and it is situated in the market square. It has collections of costume, fine art, decorative art, history and textile. The Lancashire Infantry Museum is situated at Fulwood Barracks, Preston. The Museum of Lancashire is located in Stanley Street, Preston.

The Avenham Park is situated in Avenham, and it is a public park. In 1860, the park was created, and it was designed by Edward Milner. The city also has some other parks including the Ashton Park, the Moor Park, Winckley Square, Mill Lane Park and the Haslam Park.

Transport

The city has five major bus operators. In 2006, the two Orbital bus routes were started in the city. Ribble Motor Services provides services between the city and their surrounding area. It was joined the Stagecoach Group with the name Stagecoach.

Preston railway station provides services to the city. On the West Coast main line, it has main stopped. In the North West, Preston is a major Centre for connection railway services with providing direct facilities to the Ormskirk, Blackpool, Blackburn, Liverpool, Bolton, Manchester, Leeds, Wigan, Lancaster and Bradford. It was founded in 1838 and 1850; it was extended with new platforms with their separate management.

Education

The city is house to the University of Central Lancashire. In 1974, the Preston's College was established, and it has around 17,000 students. The college provides further education to the students. In 1978, the Cardinal Newman College was founded, and it is situated in the Lark Hill Road. The college has around 3,500 students. The city also served by several high schools.

The Archbishop Temple School was established in 1963, and it has around 760 students. The school is situated in St Vincent's Road. The Ashton Community Science College provides education between the age group of 11 to 16 years old, and it is a coeducational secondary school. Ashton Community Science College, located in Lawrence Avenue Frenchwood and it offers education between the age group of 11 to 18 years old. There are some other schools including
